Hello out there!
This post is going out to our whole Parallel Society since I am taking next week off from both Substack and Friday Night Meditation in order to work on a big leap of faith. Tonight’s meditation at ROAM LA is centered on the felt experience of accessing guides and realms (of the most expansive type) and I am very excited about the experience that we’ll share.
I feel today is actually the perfect time for me to write to you, because we have a rare, auspicious alignment in the sky tomorrow; whose effects we might already be feeling now and that we’ll feel at least into the beginning of next week (and maybe much longer).
Jupiter - planet of expansion, fortune, luck - is meeting up with (conjunct) Uranus - planet of innovation, surprise, flashes of genius - at 21 degrees of Taurus.
In other words, this weekend, and/or early next week we could have a GOOD SURPRISE of some kind.
But it likely won’t come from where our ego/logical ming thinks it will.
And, it likely won’t come from grinding or hustling.
Which brings me to my important point - being magical has A LOT to do with being able to live life while simultaneously working with the prima material of our lives symbolically. Having this two-pointed awareness (on the real life, and on the mythic life) is essential for those of us who like to make magic and enjoy experiences others deem impossible.
Yes, this is the life we are living, AND also (at the same time) it is the story of our life coming into being. And, this story of our life coming into being is ripe with symbols THAT ARE CONNECTED to the story of the collective that we all live within.
Lots of connections, intersections and opportunities here in this overlapping space between us and the collective - many that are invisible most of the time to our ego/logic mind. We normally just can’t see beyond our most habitual perspectives.
When we engage with life on the mythic/symbolic level, we can access wisdom and intuition that is BEYOND what our ego/logic mind can comprehend. It’s like taking the blinders off a horse or removing the training wheels off a bike.
We can see so much more, and go so much farther, faster. We also move differently through the world which causes external reality to move differently with us.
If we can see (in this case) Jupiter and Uranus as personified mythic symbols, we are more likely to see and activate the opportunities they may bring towards us.
This is how I am doing this - feel free to take this process and make it your own…
Visualize Jupiter (in its classic Greek mythological form)- with its powers of expansion, benevolence, good fortune, luck, etc. meeting up with Uranus (also in its classic Greek mythological form) - with its powers of surprise, innovation, invention, flashes of genius, etc. and listen to what they talk about as they meet up within your visualization.
Come out of this Jupiter/Uranus meeting in your mind and pull a card (oracle, tarot, SoulCollage®) for each one’s message to you at this time. You can use a framing question if you want or let it be more up to them.
Then, go back into your visualization space and SHOW the cards you picked to Uranus and Jupiter and see what they say/have to show you.
Come out of visualization and free-associate as you take notes on the whole experience.
Without being too specific, when I did this process, it was explained/revealed to me to focus on certain things that I wasn’t planning to focus on this weekend.
Now I get to experiment with these messages from Jupiter and Uranus and see how I can create a “fertile field” on my end (in the material world) so their largesse will have a place to grow.
I hope that sharing this leads you to conduct your own explorations interacting with the mythic overlay of your life in real time and the life of the collective (both Jupiter and Uranus are outer planets meaning that they traditionally stimulate the collective all at once, compared to the “personal” or inner planets which affect us all differently…).
I know this is heady stuff, but it gets a lot less complicated when we just embark on the practice rather than trying to explain the practice.
Essentially, this is a good weekend to be extra-magical.
I’ll be back in your inbox on April 30th.
Until next time,
Jess
“Relying too much on algorithmic, psychological sales tricks causes you to operate under the belief that people are buying from you because you performed correctly, that you followed the industry rules perfectly and are now being rewarded for it. It's disempowering to you and causes a lot of people to sell from the belief that people need to be convinced of their value in order for their work to sell. And that undermines a much more powerful truth you could be choosing: people are buying from you because you want them to. And getting what you want is just what happens in this reality when you don't repeatedly get distracted from your desires. When you train yourself to remember this, you can sell in a way that feels like an extension of your human creativity, in a way you feel compelled to, over and over again. Plus, as a customer it's much more satisfying to buy things from a human who's being a full human, than one whose primary objective is to behave correctly.”

“Your belief in your strategy matters more than the strategy itself. To decide the best one for you, be the version of yourself who it works for. From there you can pick whatever next steps that feel best for you. Your next level of success is going to come from the knowing that things are working, and then taking action from that space, rather than the pursuit of "the perfect, correct strategy". You always know what that is being the version of you who has chosen to have what you want.
Every strategy works powerfully when you're being the one it works for, be them and take next steps you're inspired to.”

“We are in a time of DISORDER, attacking and pulling apart structures, systems, and stories that feel antiquated, profoundly unjust and unfair, and restrictive. This is postmodernism in a nutshell, where we break free from these ties that bind. The problem is that we don’t yet know how to reconstitute ourselves, to reassemble a common faith, narrative, or story that’s big enough to contain us all and hold us steady on a higher plane. We are in free fall between DISORDER and REORDER, where it feels quite literally like the center cannot hold.”

“We no longer are so sure that the laws of nature are predictable and that human nature consists in knowing all the laws and controlling the universe as best we can. If you doubt this, simply look at the emergence of superstition and magic, UFO theories, New Age fundamentalism of every sort, shamanic journeys, and an actual reveling in the unconscious, the irrational, the non-rational, the symbolic, and the ‘spiritual’—and much of this among very educated people! The gods of the body, belly, and heart are demanding to be heard, not just the god of reason.
“There’s bad news and good news here. Living in a transitional age is scary: It’s falling apart, it’s unknowable, it doesn’t cohere, it doesn’t make sense, it’s all mystery again, and we can’t put order in it. This is the postmodern panic. It lies beneath most of our cynicism, our anxiety, and our pandemic violence.”

“To even know what we want, we have to see the menu. We have to see the menu to choose the dish. And the menu that we are given conventionally is a very narrow, limited menu.”

“The mind doubts. And in those moments of doubt, we have to, if we're going to continue serving the emergence of that world, we have to trust the heart. There are times when the heart and mind will be in alignment. But as we make our way from an old story into the next story, often the things that we need to do, the sense that we need to make, conflicts with the inherited programs of the mind.
In those moments, we have to trust the discernment of the heart. And it is that same function of heart discernment which allows us to see that we actually are making progress. Because from our received perceptual set, from our received ways of seeing the world, it looks very much like things are getting worse and worse, that we are making not progress toward a more beautiful world, but we are actually going the other direction.
So my purpose here is to bring in some of the phenomena, some of the events, some of the movements that might be underneath the surface, that can be seen from the heart's perspective — hopefully not too much in contradiction with the mind — and to share those so that all of us can see them together.”

"The important thing about despair is never to give up, never wrap up and put away a sterile life, but somehow keep it open. Because you never can know what's coming; never. That's the great thing about life, the crucial thing to remember. You may beat your fists on a stone wall for years and years, and every consideration of common sense will say it's hopeless, forget it, spare yourself; and then one day your bleeding hand will go through as if the wall were theatrical gauze; you'll be in another realm where birds are singing and love is possible, and you'd have missed it if you'd given up, because it might be only that one day the wall was not stone."

The Orange
At lunchtime I bought a huge orange—
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave—
They got quarters and I had a half.
And that orange, it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.
The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I’m glad I exist.

"Take time to stop and smell the flowers," says an old homily. Albert Hoffman, the Swiss scientist who discovered LSD and lived to age 102, had a different approach. "Take the time to stop and be the flowers," he said.
That's my advice to you. Don't just set aside a few stolen moments to sniff the snapdragons, taste the rain, chase the wind, watch the hummingbirds, and listen to a friend.
Use your imagination to actually be the snapdragons and rain and wind and hummingbirds and friend. Don't just behold the Other; become the Other.”

I have had two visits with Uranus as the primordial sky god and his son, Jupiter, and then pulled the two Soul Collage Cards . WOW. What a cool experience. Oodles of gratitude to you Jess for sharing this practice.
You are amazing and such a blessing!!
